What is Angel Food?
Angel Food Ministry is a national organization dedicated to providing grocery assistance to communities throughout the country. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Georgia, and has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 35 states. Angel Food Ministries is non-denominational. Angel Food’s groceries are sold by the box, and an average box of food weighs around 21 lbs. The weight may differ each month, and one box of food helps in feeding a family of four for about one week, or a single person for about a month.
Do I need to qualify for the program?
There are no applications or qualifications, anyone can participate. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp Program, using the off-line food stamp voucher system.
Is the food fresh?
Because of Angel Food's involvement with only the best producers and vendors, the products are similar to what one purchases at the grocery store - high quality, "name brand" foods - never damaged or out-of-date goods .
(Angel Food Ministries reserves the right to substitute any item due to availability, cost and quality).
Will I know what food is offered monthly?
Angel Food Ministries produces a monthly menu to inform customers of what food items will be available a full month in advance. Each month's menu is different and consists of both fresh and frozen items.
What is the cost of the food?
There are usually a number of 'regular' boxes: (1) The Bread of Life Signature Box sells for $35 (2) The Bit O'Blessing Box (not available this month) (3) The Bountiful Blessing Box for $46 (4) The Senior/Convenience Box consisting of ten nutritionally balanced fully-cooked meals – just heat and serve for only $29. (5) The Allergen-Free Box (not available this month) (6) Just 4 Me After School Box for $25 (7) The Just 4 Me - No Child Goes Without Box for $25 (8) The Just 4 Me After School Fruit & Veggie Box for $17 (9) Shelf-Stable Pantry Box for $21 (10) The Discount Family Basket for $35.
There are also a variety of "Specials" available. The specials are separated into various special meat groups, and even a fruit and veggie box loaded with fresh produce. There is no limit to the number of boxes an individual can purchase.
Unlike missions, soup kitchens and government agencies, Angel Food is designed to accommodate all people
in all situations. Whether you are destitute, downsized or just looking to make ends meet, in today’s tough economy Angel Food can be an answer to prayer. Angel Food is also a wonderful way to provide for the needy.
If you personally aren’t in need, perhaps you’d consider ordering food to give to a struggling family you know.
If you are a church or organization, Angel Food is a perfect package to give to those you serve with needs.
Shepherd of the Valley is very happy to be able to offer this program to be of assistance to our community.
